What Is Really Coming Out of Your Knoxville Taps?
If your home is supplied by a city utility (KUB, West Knox, First Utility District), untreated water carries hidden problems that impact health, appliances, and daily comfort.
Chlorine, Chloramines & Disinfection
Municipal providers use heavy chlorine to disinfect municipal lines. You smell it in the shower, absorb it through your skin, and inhale vaporized chemical steam daily.
Hard Mineral Crust & Lime Buildup
Knox County water is notorious for calcium and magnesium that ruins expensive tankless water heaters, clogs showerheads, leaves white film on glasses, and dries out skin and hair.
PFAS, Lead, Microplastics & Runoff
"Forever chemicals" (PFAS/PFOA), microplastics, heavy metals, and agricultural runoff pass through standard municipal filters and into your Knoxville tap water undetected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from Knoxville homeowners about water filtration & reverse osmosis
What is the difference between Whole Home Filtration and Reverse Osmosis?
A Whole Home Filtration system treats all incoming water at your main line, removing chlorine, bad odors, chemicals, and sediments so every faucet, shower, bathtub, and appliance gets clean water. A Reverse Osmosis system is installed at your kitchen sink/refrigerator to provide ultra-purified (0.0001 micron) water specifically for drinking and cooking. Most Knoxville families pair both for complete protection.
Does Knoxville city water really need a filtration system?
Yes. While Knoxville municipal utilities meet EPA legal limits, they rely heavily on chlorine/chloramines for distribution disinfection, which strips moisture from your skin and creates chemical fumes in hot showers. Furthermore, hard limestone minerals in East TN cause scale on fixtures, and microscopic contaminants like PFAS and microplastics are rarely removed by municipal plants.
Do you service private well water systems?
Not yet. We currently focus on municipal (city) water customers across Knoxville and East Tennessee — homes served by KUB, West Knox Utility, First Utility District, and similar providers. We are not servicing private wells at this time, but plan to add well water treatment in the future.
How often do filters need to be changed?
Reverse Osmosis pre- and post-filters are typically replaced once a year, while the RO membrane lasts 2 to 3 years. Whole house carbon tanks typically operate for 5 to 7 years before media rebedding. We provide easy scheduled maintenance so you never have to guess.
Doesn't reverse osmosis remove the good minerals too?
Yes, reverse osmosis removes nearly everything dissolved in water, including small amounts of calcium and magnesium. That's what makes it so effective against chlorine, PFAS, lead, and other contaminants. But drinking water is a minor source of those minerals; most of what your body uses comes from food.
We still think water should taste great and feel balanced, so our RO systems include a remineralization filter as the final stage. It adds back calcium and magnesium after purification, giving you clean water with a crisp, natural taste and a balanced pH, instead of the flat taste some RO systems have.
